Our RF team leads the development of advanced communication systems and RF sensors, supporting both terrestrial and maritime platforms. Velox consults, and designs systems and architectures that enable communication capabilities, utilizing special space satellites, terrestrial networks, and specializing in innovative LPI/LPD solutions.
We're seeking a versatile Sr. RF Engineer with expertise in communication architectures, telemetry, and the ability to design and integrate advanced radio and antenna systems. Become part of our mission, driving critical innovations for the defense and intelligence community.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Spend 75% of your time leveraging your RF expertise to provide strategic communications advisory support and assist with high-impact RF operations. • Dedicate 25% of your time to Velox's IR&D, developing cutting-edge radio, antenna, and custom low-power IoT embedded sensor systems. • Your daily responsibilities will include consulting, designing, and testing RF antenna hardware for communications and sensor systems across VHF to Ka-band frequencies, overseeing projects from concept to combat. • Assisting with running operational RF equipment, including waveform parameters, and light signal processing • Understanding and devising telecommunications and satellite communications architectures • Create EM simulation models of hardware (antennas, waveforms, filters) to design or evaluate performance • Analyze wireless systems (antenna isolation, patterns with large structures, propagation effects, etc.)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with emphasis in communications, telemetry, electromagnetic theory, SDR, circuits, embedded systems. • 4+ years of professional or project experience designing, building, or testing RF systems • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and self-motivation to tackle complex technical challenges. • Clearance: TS/SCI CI Poly
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • Master's degree in electrical engineering (electromagnetics or circuits) • Experience with cellular networks and telecommunications • Hands on experience with test equipment such as spectrum analyzer, signal generator, network analyzer, power meters, and RF passive components • Experience with RF chamber design and operation • Experience with electromagnetics simulation tools Experience with Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ programming for data analysis or test equipment interfacing • Experience with phased array calibration and testing • Proficiency in navigating the Smith chart, with a strong background in transmission line theory, impedance matching, filters, and S-parameters. • Excellent communication and documentation skills, and ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines
BONUS SKILLS: • Some experience with meta materials or Laser communication • Experience with PCB layout • Experience with Sub-threshold voltage • Experience with network, telecommunications, 5G
