This position is for a Windows Engineer supporting the Army Edge Computing Capability (AECC) project that ALTESS is fielding for the US Army in the Pacific theater. The AECC solution is a hyperconverged, multitenant private cloud hosting environment for hosting Army enterprise and tactical applications. AECC is utilizing the full suite of VMware products (ESXi, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Foundations, ARIA Automation, Tanzu) to implement a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) across multiple global sites. ALTESS is integrating the Hashicorp Vault and Terraform, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, and the GitLab Ultimate Suite into the AECC solution to provide an automation platform in addition to the VMware ARIA capabilities along with a DevSecOps framework for the Army Tactical users to utilize. ALTESS provides value added common and managed services built on top of the VMware foundation, that hosted Army applications will require. ALTESS is a managed service provider (MSP) and hosting services provider for Army applications. ALTESS is a Product Director office under Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS). Position Duties:
• Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the AECC architecture. • Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment and sustainment of the Windows based services in the AECC. • As new applications are hosted on the AECC solution, utilize IaC for the provisioning of the customer Windows resources. • Maintain patching services for all Windows hosts to patch from.
• Serve as overall subject matter expert on Windows Administrator technology and market capabilities/trends.
• Manage objects stored in Active Directory as delegated by Active Directory administrators.
• Perform Active Directory user account, and member server management tasks in assigned OUs.
• Provide daily administration of the Windows based Virtual Machines and AECC services. • Harden the Windows based services per commercial best practices and the required government cybersecurity controls. • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any Windows issues. • Coordinate and perform major OS version upgrades of virtual machines needing upgrades.
• Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures). • Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents. • Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies. Required Skills:
• Senior level experience with Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
• Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack - network, storage, server, and applications.
Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.
Required Certifications:
• Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IA Tech Level II certification • Must have (or obtain within 6 months of hire) Windows administrator related computing environment certification (i.e. MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent)
