Responsibilities Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer to support our customer in the Quantico, Virginia area. For more than 30 years, we've partnered with customers to advance critical missions across the globe - providing innovative, reliable solutions for Intelligence, Defense, and Federal Civilian Agencies. RESPONSIBILITIES Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software. Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions, developing solutions compatible with Concept of Operations.
Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Ensures software standards are met; enhances software to reduce operating times and/or improve efficiency.
Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design. Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
Performs reverse engineering.Qualifications Position requires an active Top Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI with CI Poly level clearance. BA/BS and 8+ years of experience; Masters and 6+ years of experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
4 years' experience performing in-depth analysis of wired and wireless network traffic using Wireshark or other compatible protocol analyzer.
Experience with Windows and Linux applications, systems and API development. Contribute to system-level design in order to optimize overall system performance and reliability.
Experience in networking protocols such as TCP/IP and network-based communication protocols.
Experience in the use of programming languages such as Bash, Python, C, C++, C# and .NET Framework.
Target Salary Range $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
