Job description

Duties You will provide technical support that involves assistance in the management of the safety efforts associated with program compliance and/or oversight. You will be responsible for projects meeting safety requirements, which includes participating in technical reviews or technical review preparation. You will assist engineers in conducting programmatic Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) evaluations and maintain updated evaluations throughout the life-cycle of a program utilizing MIL-STD-882 methodology. You will prepare program Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) documentation, manage, monitor, and coordinate the execution of the System Safety Program. You will oversee the monitoring of occupational health exposures and incidents/investigations and recommendation for mitigation, establishes health variables associated with system development. This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Engineering Level 01. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical support that involves assistance in the management of the safety efforts associated with program compliance and/or oversight (e.g. System Safety, Environment, Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) for facilities and systems acquisition); AND assisting engineers in conducting programmatic Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) evaluations and maintaining updated evaluations throughout the life cycle of a program. Additional information The following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are desired but not required: - Expert Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in applying systems engineering principles and the Impact of ESOH - Expert Knowledge of ESOH laws requirements and regulations as well as ESOH concepts, principles, methods, and techniques - Knowledge and skill in developing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation in support of acquisition efforts - Experience preparing and presenting Technical Data Packages to the relevant safety review boards & certification panels for concurrence with fleet use. - Experience using analyses and techniques to provide a comprehensive safety risk assessment in support of safe design and provides mitigation strategies to reduce the safety risk to acceptable levels. - Expert knowledge and skill in coordinating safety risk acceptance of residual safety risk in support of training events, test events, and fielding. - Experience coordinating, leading, or performing investigations focused on safety issues.
