Description SAIC has an immediate opening for a Logistics Officer to support an exciting prime contract in the DC area. In this position you will control the efficient flow of goods, services and information between points of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements. As Logistics Officer you will ensure the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistic processes. You will also participate in development of solutions to complex problems which require a high degree of ingenuity and innovation. Logistics functions encompass maintenance, supply, transportation and logistics plans. Challenges are often unique and solutions may serve precedent for future decisions. Assignments are often self-initiated, virtually self-supervisory. Qualifications Active TS/SCI & Poly HS diploma and a minimum of 5 years of relevant commercial logistics experience Familiarity with warehousing and inventory management principles Ability to research and analyze transportation partners for capabilities and suitability Familiarity with basic financial accounting for cost estimates and tracking Ability to clearly present analysis , problem sets, and solution proposals Understanding of fundamental of supply chains and supply chain management Experience arranging shipping via domestic commercial trucking providers Experience either serving as or working with a freight forwarder Experience negotiating rates with carriers Familiarity with inventory management principles Desired: Prior IC experience is preferred Non-standard logistics experience a plus SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline. Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
