Position Summary:
Sovah Martinsville is seeking a full-time Registered Nuclear Med Technologist to prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals as well as other medications to patients and perform the diagnostic study per physician orders.
- Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications for patient imaging and therapeutic procedures.
- Processes data and enhances digital images using advanced computer technology.
- Provides images, data analysis, and patient information for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic procedures.
- Evaluate images to determine the technical quality and calibration of instrumentation.
- Processes the images for radiologist review.
- Determines analog and digital display systems for the appropriate techniques utilizing background suppression or subtraction, region of interest, and time activity curve processing and utilizing the technical parameters of SPECT studies.
- Operates radiation detection devices, analog-digital and/or SPECT cameras, data processing units, apparatus for in-vitro counting, radiation survey meters, dose calibrators, and any other pertinent imaging or counting documentation.
- Performs daily and quarterly Quality Control on all imaging and measurement instruments and reviews calibration data to detect malfunctions and report malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Participates in the maintenance of records pertaining to the receipt, dispensation, and disposal of radioactive materials and maintains inventory of supplies in assigned areas.
- Participates in nuclear medicine laboratory surveys for contamination is necessary, and to properly perform the decontamination process.
Minimum Education:
- Graduate of an educational program in Nuclear Medicine technology accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or the Nuclear Medicine Certification Board or Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
Required Skills:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in Nuclear Regulatory Commission and State regulations.
- Must comply with all State and Federal regulations pertaining to nuclear medicine materials.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Full range of motion of upper and lower extremities. Moving and/or lifting patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Pushing equipment > 100 pounds. Dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
- Standing and/or walking for extensive periods of time. Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable disease and/or body fluid which requires the use of body substance isolation precautions.

Required Certifications/Licenses:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Registered by (ARRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board. Additional ARRT certification in Radiography is preferred.

Minimum Work Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience in diagnostic radiology technology with training in nuclear medicine or graduate of an accredited educational program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
