Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Develops and implements logistics plans that may affect the production, distribution, and inventory of finished products in order to enhance product flow. Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control. Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory and analyzes requirements in order to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates. Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports. Coordinates logistics activities by finding the most beneficial shipping methods with internal/external customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works independently in a fast-paced warehouse environment, receiving minimum supervision and guidance; In the absence of the project manager or assistant project manager, provides direction and task assignments to other warehouse staff.
• Receives household effects from transportation service providers.
• Responsible for unloading household effects and general freight from delivery trucks via warehouse docks.
• Processes requests to remove household effects from storage for shipment to overseas posts and domestic locations; conducts an inventory to verify correct items have been identified and removed.
• Assembles and repairs wood shipping crates, using a variety of electric and pneumatic powered hand tools, such as saws, drills, nail guns, etc.
• Ensures all international shipping crates are in compliance with ISPM-15 requirements.
• Wraps and packs household effects to prepare for long term storage.
• Performs manual lifting of furniture and other material.
• Operates a variety of material handling equipment to include 6,000lb and 10,000lb capacity forklifts, mechanized floor sweeper/scrubber.
• Operates forklifts to perform the movement of large crates throughout the warehouse environment, to include high reach lifting of up to 30 feet.
• Directs the movement of tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles inside the warehouse.
• Ensures all safety procedures are being followed.
• Maintains the warehouse facility, notifies the project manager of any damages and/or maintenance issues.
• Maintains all government furnished equipment. Job Qualifications and Requirements:
• ACTIVE Secret Clearance required
• Forklift certification required
• Required minimum of a two-year college/technical school degree; OR two years of verifiable experience in transportation or logistics.
• Required two years of verifiable experience in logistics and transportation supervision; AND two years' work experience coordinating the movement of household effects.
• Required two-years' verifiable experience in forklift operations.
• Possess Intermediate working knowledge of the transportation/logistics industry.
• Possess ability to clearly communicate (write, read and speak) the English language.
• Physical fitness level that allows for extended periods of time operating a forklift and/or prolonged standing and associated manual labor.
• Required ability to independently lift 80 pounds. Preference in filling this position will be given to qualified Indian applicants in accordance with the Indian Preference Act.
