This role demands a self-starting highly motivated individual who will drive Akima's business growth by leading key new large-scale (>$500M) business pursuits and formulating integrated, enterprise-scale offerings. This senior leader will leverage Akima's complete portfolio to identify new market opportunities and enhance the company's competitive positioning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Federal procurement landscape, a strong track record of leading large and complex pursuits, and the ability to effectively utilize cross-functional teams and networks. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, the Vice President of Strategic Capture will also mentor and support a diverse team of Capture professionals distributed across the company to effectively qualify and pursue with maximum pWin competitive acquisitions aligned with Akima's strategic objectives. Responsibilities Identifies and leads new business pursuits focused on key technology solutions (e.g., digital modernization, digital engineering, emerging technologies like GenAI and RPA, enterprise-scale LVC training) that inject step-function growth by maximally leveraging Akima's complete portfolio.
Formulates integrated, enterprise-scale offerings reflective of Akima's diverse solutions by bridging company capabilities, relationships, and past performance.
Elevates Akima's competitive prowess through the delivery of independent capture assessments and support to our highest priority pursuits, providing direction and hands-on leadership for specific pursuits, as needed, including all aspects of capture strategy, implementation, and solutioning.
Identifies new target markets and capabilities for accelerated growth, catalog internal gaps to successfully penetrate identified markets/capabilities, and recommend approaches (e.g., M&A, IR&D, partnering, etc.) to overcome gaps.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with key Government decision-makers and industry partners.
Mentors a high-performing team of capture managers, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Oversees the development and execution of winning proposals, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and alignment with Akima's strategic goals.
Stays abreast of industry trends, competitive intelligence, and market dynamics to inform strategic decision-making and identify new business opportunities.
Represents Akima at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings to enhance the company's visibility and thought leadership. Qualifications Seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the Federal procurement landscape.
Strong track record of successfully leading large (>$500M) and complex pursuits that required effective use of cross-functional and operationally federated teams.
Robust experience in all aspects of the acquisition lifecycle (i.e., BD, capture, solutioning, pricing, writing, competitive intelligence, etc.).
Demonstrated effective use of personal networks, consultants, and/or partners to establish and nurture relationships with key Government decision-makers.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic capture plans that result in significant business growth.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering collaboration and driving high performance. This includes setting a clear team vision, exhibiting enthusiasm and passion for devising a win strategy on complex bids, modeling ethical and collaborative leadership behaviors, and ensuring accountability for meeting established team and individual goals.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and the ability to think critically and innovatively.
Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Ability to obtain or possess a Secret security clearance.
