Systems/Cloud Engineer
Location: Hybrid, DC area

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and plan IT systems and infrastructure based on business needs.
• Develop system architecture blueprints and documentation.
• Select and configure hardware, software, and network components.
• Install and configure server hardware and operating systems.
• Set up and manage virtualization technologies.
• Support the deployment and configuration of network equipment, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Administer and maintain servers, storage systems, and network devices.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations.
• Implement security measures and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure.
• Manage and troubleshoot SD-WAN connectivity and network protocols.
• Extensive experience and expertise in design, implementation, configuration and support of Azure VDI.
• Implement and monitor network security measures.
• Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Perform regular backups, test restores, and ensure data integrity.
• Coordinate disaster recovery drills and responses.
• Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline system administration tasks.
• Implement configuration management for efficient and consistent system management.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
• Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support.
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Analyze system performance data to forecast resource requirements.
• Plan and execute capacity upgrades as needed.
• Ensure systems are compliant with Federal regulations and security standards.
• Implement security patches and updates in a timely manner.

Required skills & experience:

• At least eight (8) years of experience of infrastructure, cloud, security architecture, design, and development for Federal IT Organizations.
• Bachelor's degree, in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco).
• Demonstrated experience with Cisco products.
• Demonstrated experience with monitoring tools (eg. Splunk, CrowdStrike)
• Demonstrated experience with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) design and implementation/
• Proven experience in system administration and network management.
• Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux/Unix), virtualization technologies, and network protocols.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms, such as Azure and AWS.
• Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
• Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
• Skilled communicator with clients and employees.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated outstanding level of professionalism in providing client support, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
