Job description

This is a full-time position, and requires a TS/SCI/Full Scope Polygraph Clearance. 2HB Incorporated is seeking a System Engineer to support its government customer in Herndon, VA. The US Government (USG) operates and maintains two environments to support a cadre of penetration testers. The first provides distribution/prototyping, associated infrastructure services, and a configuration management (CM) repository. The second environment provides working storage, and persistent records to document and archive ongoing work. Additionally, the USG manages a tools repository which supports the distribution of tools from the CM repository to the cadre. Work will include supporting the operation and maintenance (O&M) and the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) of these environments, and the automation of tool delivery. WORK REQUIREMENTS The Candidate shall support a standard automated build release of operating system (OS) and tools to support the Sponsors cadre. The Candidate shall maintain two working environments with software updates and patches The Candidate shall provide cyclic O&M and A&A tasks such as performing and requesting security scans, applying patches, writing and maintaining security controls and documentation. The Candidate shall maintain a software tool repository currently implemented in GitLab. The Candidate shall maintain system program plans for efforts to maintain stakeholder awareness The Candidate shall perform routine backups as well as maintain offline archives. The Candidate shall, at the request of the cadre acquire software tools, setup demonstration/evaluation/test environments, and integrate them into the supported baselines. The Candidate shall develop and maintain system documentation and processes to support the environments and tools, permitting ease of use. REQUIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE Demonstrated experience performing administration of servers and workstations, for Linux and windows. Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and delivering servers and workstations, in physical and virtual environments, for Linux and windows. Demonstrated experience in the administration and delivery of infrastructure services; DHCP, NTP, DNS, backup, Account setup and maintenance (LDAP, Active directory, and MFA), ACL maintenance, and audit review. Demonstrated experience performing administration of a local virtual infrastructure (such as VMware, Proxmox, VirtualBox, etc.) and willingness to learn others as needed. Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining process documentation for how to use environments and installation of tools. Demonstrated experience documenting system processes, System Security Plans (SSPs), requirements, and architecture. HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE Demonstrated experience with AWS provisioning and operations of VPCs, accounts, and instances. Demonstrated experience in the utilization of Ansible, to automate delivery of laptop/desktop/virtualized baseline OS and tool packages. Demonstrated experience in setup and operation of virtual firing ranges, learning and simulation environments, Capture the Flag (CTF) exercises. Demonstrated experience with database environments and data stewardship. Demonstrated experience with VISIO to document network and rack elevation drawings. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Project to develop and maintain graphical schedules with dependencies. Demonstrated experience developing and producing customer-facing dashboard presentations using cutting-edge open-source frameworks, system inventory and scanning services. Demonstrated experience working with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of tools and technologies. Demonstrated experience with JIRA for project issue tracking and management. This is a full-time position, and requires a TS/SCI/Full Scope Polygraph Clearance.
