Job description
Duties As a Facilities Operation Specialist at the NH-1640-3 some of your typical work assignments may include: Provide infrastructure support, services, and facility management to support various MDA facilities, warehouses and other elements. Assures optimal functioning of buildings and systems including mechanical, fire/life safety, mail and janitorial services on a daily basis. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with the operation, repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities, equipment, buildings, and grounds to minimize interruption and improve efficiency. Oversees facility renovation projects entailing HVAC, electrical, emergency power generation equipment, heating, and quality of life within the facility. Provides project management support for planning, designing, constructing, expansion, and/or re-purposing of existing and/or new facilities. This requires incumbent to report for, or remain at, work in emergency situations. In addition, dismissal or closure announcements do not apply unless supervisor instructs otherwise. Incumbent may be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. This requires incumbent to be available by phone and physical recall within 2-hours during non-duty hours or during assigned recall periods, when not in an approved leave status Qualifications You may qualify at the NH-03 if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Must meet 3 out of 5 of the statements below: Experience applying the principles, methods, and techniques of multiple facility sustainment disciplines such as civil, mechanical, electrical, architectural, topographical, geo-technical, environmental, and/or material sciences to provide expert facilities advice to executive leadership regarding assigned sites and facilities. Experience applying knowledge of facilities/systems acquisition to include related design and planning to ensure that products meet program goals/objectives. Ability to analyze complex data, arrive at logical conclusions, and make recommendations in the conduct of recurring and special studies. Experience developing Real Property Requirements, facility planning, work classification, design, or construction activities serving as advisor on matters relating to real property planning, programming or business case development. Skill in oral and written communications to efficiently respond to technical questions as well as advanced interpersonal skills in order to articulate facility requirements necessary to manage and support assigned programs.
