Position Summary:
Sovah Health in Danville, VA, is seeking a full-time ED Technician u nder the supervision of an RN, to perform basic patient care
activities.
- Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
- Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
Minimum Education:
- High school graduate or GED.
- Previous phlebotomy and IV certification or equivalent work experience, or successful completion of phlebotomy and IV training provided by the hospital within three months of hire.
- Successful completion of EMT or EMT-Intermediate, currently eligible for CNA licensure, licensed CNA, or previous job experience as an ED Technician.

- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Requires ability to read and write legibly and carry out directions promptly and accurately.
- Must have good organizational skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently.
- Must exhibit effective communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. It requires the ability to respond quickly and calmly during stressful or emergencies.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
Minimum Work Experience
- One or more years in an acute hospital setting or with a rescue squad is preferred.
