Communications Specialist
Locations: Stafford-Spotsylvania-King George Counties, VA
Clearance Required: DoD Secret
Years of Experience: 2+
Degree: BA/BS in communications field, public relations, or marketing OR 6 years related experience in public relations, public affairs or journalism field
FT/PT: Full Time
We need motivated candidates with extensive communications, public affairs and program management experience to support a defense public affairs contract. This position will support command communications activities, including:
Research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements, including electronic and hard copy material.
Experience in social media platforms and use of analytics, such as Hootsuite.
Ability to support employee communication programs and products, media relations programs, community relations, special events, and provide photography support, as needed.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
Excellent writing, researching, planning and verbal communications skills.
Excellent customer relations skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior level military and government officials and assist them in the process of communicating command messages.
Ability to organize and manage workflows and schedules, prioritizing work based on deadlines, schedules and management guidance.
Understanding of the Associated Press style guide.
Understanding of MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Photography experience desired.
