Serco is looking for a Shipboard Installation Specialist to join our growing team supporting our US Navy installation program located in the beautiful surroundings of Newport News, VA. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact toward our military defense by supporting this critical mission!

SERCO supports the U.S Naval Ships with military and system installations. You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.

In this role, you will:

Ensure strict compliance with shipboard drawings, technical guidance, and QA inspection of installed systems.

Be skilled and familiar with Naval Cableway Management under MIL-STD-2003 and NAVSEAINST.9304.1D Cableway Management Systems

Implement shipyard operating and safety rules.

Read and interpret Shipboard Installation Drawings (SIDs).

Lead teams of various skill positions to include; Electricians, Engineering Technicians, Mechanics, Welders, Shipfitters, Subcontractors, and Laborers

Knowledge and understanding of WAF/Tag-Out guidelines, hot work requirements, and professional standards for structural component installation.

Identify welding gear requirements to include welding consumables for multiple tasks.

Maintain inventory and accountability of installation materials, tools, and test equipment as directed.

Submit daily reports, maintain timesheets, complete Conditions Found Reports (CFRs), make recommendations for Liaison Action Reports (LARs), maintain inventory and accountability of installation material, tools, and test equipment Interface with Customer On-site Installation Coordinators Qualifications:

Be familiar with NAVSEA standard concepts and NAVSEA MIL-STD-2042, Fiber Optic Cable Topology Installation Standard Methods for Naval Ships

Typically reports to a Project/Program Manager.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

A high school diploma or equivalent

The ability to obtain or maintain an active Secret clearance.

A minimum of 5 years experience

Be able to obtain access to Shipyard and Government installations.

Shipboard experience of managing a team of installers, scheduling and overseeing the installation.

The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking.

The ability to lift up to 50 pounds with work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. Attention to safety is critical.

Knowledge of NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.

Willing to work second or thirds shift as needed and more than 40 hours work weeks.

Be available for immediate travel and willing to travel up to 50% of the time.

Be willing to travel to various work sites such as Virginia Beach VA, Bremerton WA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, Mayport FL, and Yokosuka Japan.
