We provide Subject Matter Experts (SME) free of Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) focused on independent analysis and mission support services within the disciplines of Engineering, Counter Terrorism Operations, Management, Information Technology, Signals Analysis, Administration, Cyber Security and Linguistics. FTS is seeking a Signals Engineer in Chantilly, VA. The Signals Engineer will p rovide expertise in space application of RF, mixed and digital signals and technologies Responsibilities Provide expertise in satellite systems and architectures to inform and to influence signals intelligence collection for satellite systems Perform/Plan in orbit test planning, execution, and data distribution to the stakeholders Participate in working groups and forums required for marketing test opportunities for RF systems to external stakeholders/Customers Develop and implement signal processing algorithms for communication systems Model and simulate components of a communication system in MATLAB/SIMULINK or Python Design, prototype and implement the waveform to meet specific requirements for a given application Prototype on FPGA based evaluation cards or on high performance computers Perform laboratory experiments and evaluating field able prototypes or COTS communication sub-systems (GPS, Modems, SDRs, RF switches etc.) Design waveform for various applications and environments as required and defined by the Customer Provide input into new processes and assist Customer in development operation and Management (O&M) plans Participate in all phases of the new product development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test Apply engineering, software, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of system solutions Work with Contractor teams to integrate and to test the hardware or the software or the firmware for the sub-system Develop test plans, procedures, reports and related documentation for both satellite, ground and transport based sub-systems Communicate within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches Facilitate necessary program office requirements and inputs into enterprise change control boards and other processes required to integrate mission operations and outline criteria for successful test results Prepare technical briefing for the program office customers and stakeholders Required Skills/Qualifications TS/SCI with Polygraph B.S. in Electrical Engineering 10 + years of relevant experience Experience with spacecraft systems engineering, payload design, space hardware, manufacture, and test Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem-solving skills to be effective in a government/contractor team environment Working knowledge in DOD/IC acquisition and program management processes Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience with GitLab, GitHub or other revision control systems, and agile development practices 5+ years' experience Python, C or C++, MATLAB/SIMULINK, VHDL, Xilinx's FPGA development tools (Vivado, SDK, etc.) Working knowledge of Ethernet Network Equipment such as Routers, L2/L3 IP switch, Firewalls etc. Knowledge of signal processing concepts for communications, detection & estimation theory FTS International, LLC is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer that does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, religion, age, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by local, state, or federal laws, rules, or regulations.
