Job Number: R System Safety Engineer, Mid The Opportunity: Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your te chn ical skills with big-picture thi nk ing to make an impact in System Safety? Our team supports senior-level DoD and Service personnel with system safety implementation and oversight for DoD threat system programs. You'll leverage your spe cia lized knowledge and expertise in system safety, including applying scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and te chn iques to identify and assess threat system safety hazards and inform the implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk. As a systems engineer on our team, you'll enjoy a dynamic team environment of client and contractor staff while executing comprehensive system safety programs or individual tasks on a variety of systems, including unmanned systems, ground-based missile systems, surface vessel threat and support systems, or laser systems. You will be familiar with typical work products, including System Safety Program Plans ( SSPP ) , a variety of analyses, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis ( PHA ) , Subsystem and System Hazard Analysis ( SHA and SSHA ) , Operating and Support Hazard Analysis ( O & SHA ) , Explosive Ordnance Disposal ( EOD ) analysis, Safety Assessment Reports ( SAR ) , and test report evaluations. You'll analyze data, develop written deliverables, assist with the presentation of results, and assist with the review of client system safety artifacts to verify compliance with requirements, policy , and guidance documents. You'll c ond uct these tasks following established plans and quality standards and the freedom to improve processes and advance the discipline of system safety. Join us. The world can't wait. You Have: 2+ years of experience with Engineering, EOD and Ordnance Operations, System Test and Evaluation, Safety Programs, Directed Energy System Design, or Electromagnetic Emission Effects and Susceptibility
2+ years of experience with implementing MIL-STD-882 system safety programs for weapons, platforms, launch control systems, electronics, or mechanical equipment Experience with conducting system safety hazard analyses, risk assessment for identified hazards, use of hazard tracking systems, preparation of system safety risk acceptance documents, and presentation to DoD system safety review boards
Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize te chn ical data into cohesive and clear te chn ical reports and presentations
Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate te chn ical meetings and working groups
Secret clearance HS diploma or GED Nice If You Have: Experience with NAVSEAINST 8020.6, Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board ( WSESRB ) , or Sof tware Systems Safety Te chn ical Review Panel ( SSSTRP ) Experience with Digital Engineering, Machine Learning and Artifi cia l Intelligence, Sof tware Development, Solid-state Electrical Circuit Design, Unmanned Systems Design, Human Factors Engineering, or Fault Tree Analysis
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
Certified Safety Professional ( CSP ) , Navy Principal for Safety ( PFS ) , or Certified Systems Engineering Professional ( CSEP ) Certification Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required. Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
