Summary Must have an active Top Secret Clearance at minimum We are seeking a skilled Linux Sr. Server Engineer to join our team and provide support for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). As a Sr. Linux Server Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, configuring, and maintaining the Linux server infrastructure within the DISA environment. You will collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure the availability, security, and optimal performance of DISA's Linux server systems. Your expertise will contribute to the successful operation of critical systems that support the defense and security of our nation. Responsibilities Design, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise-level Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, working closely with other teams to identify and fix problems. Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline system management tasks. Lead the implementation and adherence to DISA guidelines and industry best practices for RHEL server systems. Monitor and optimize server performance, ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex server-related issues, minimizing downtime and impact on operations. Develop and implement comprehensive security measures, including access controls, system hardening, and vulnerability management, to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits and reviews of server systems to identify vulnerabilities, recommend improvements, and implement necessary changes. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and advancements in RHEL server systems and apply them effectively in the enterprise environment. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning. Create and maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides, to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational standards. Qualifications Active DoD Top Secret Clearance at minimum required. Active CompTIA Security + required. Minimum of 8+ years of experience in Linux system administration in a large-scale enterprise environment. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, LFCE) are a plus. Proficiency in RHEL 7, 8, and 9 operating systems. Demonstrated ability to automate tasks and streamline operations using scripting and other automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl). Expertise in implementing and maintaining DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other security frameworks. Strong proficiency in virtualization technologies, including VMware, and experience managing servers in virtualized environments. Strong experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible). Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes). Proven track record in designing resilient, high-performance server architectures and implementing disaster recovery solutions. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
