Hybrid Remote- Must be local to Northern, VA, DC, MD state area or within a 2-hour commute. Do you have a strong foundation in networking principles and are eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment? Are you proficient in Cisco and Juniper technologies? If so, we'd love to hear from you! We seek a motivated and results-oriented Junior Network Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in supporting our growing network infrastructure. In this role, you will gain valuable experience working with industry-leading Cisco and/or Juniper network devices, focusing on Layer 2 and 3 technologies. Responsibilities:
Assist senior network engineers with the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of Cisco and/or Juniper network devices (switches, routers)
Participate in network design projects under the guidance of senior engineers, implement and troubleshoot Layer 2 technologies (VLANs, STP, VTP)
Configure and manage Layer 3 routing protocols (static routes, OSPF, EIGRP). Monitor network performance and identify potential issues
Perform basic network troubleshooting and assist in resolving network outages
Document network configurations and procedures
Stay up-to-date on the latest networking technologies and best practices Qualifications: Must have an active/current Top Secret clearance with SCI and suitability clearance eligibility
Must be able to travel domestically
Must be able to support on-site work (Position is hybrid, with a minimum of 20% on-site work requirement)
8+ years of professional networking experience
TCP/IP networking, VPN encryption, firewalls, and SNMP-based network management experience
In-depth knowledge and advanced troubleshooting experience regarding Layer 2 functionality and protocol in a Cisco/Juniper environment
Experience troubleshooting and implementing Layer 3 routing protocols in a Cisco/Juniper environment over a multi-site climate. Have strong knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting IPSEC VPN and firewall architecture and a strong understanding of LAN/WAN protocols. Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master's degree in a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
A PhD may substitute for four (4) years of experience. Ten (10) years of experience (for a total of eighteen (18) or more years) may be substituted for a degree.
