Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a HBSS Engineer who will support a government contract located in Washington, DC.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HBSS Engineer to join our cybersecurity team. This role will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, management, and maintenance of Host-Based Security Systems (HBSS), including McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), VirusScan, and other related security tools. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in security operations, threat mitigation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, with a strong focus on protecting systems and endpoints from cyber threats.

Responsibilities for the HBSS Engineer:

HBSS System Deployment & Management: Install, configure, and maintain HBSS solutions (McAfee ePO, VirusScan, HIPS, etc.) across a variety of systems and endpoints. Ensure continuous monitoring of HBSS deployments and manage alerts, logs, and reporting mechanisms to detect and respond to potential threats. Conduct periodic assessments of HBSS configurations to ensure effectiveness and compliance with organizational security policies.

Incident Response & Threat Mitigation: Respond to and investigate security incidents related to HBSS alerts, working with the Security Operations Center (SOC) or other teams to mitigate risks. Perform root cause analysis on security incidents and provide recommendations for remediation or system hardening. Ensure that endpoint security policies and tools are properly enforced and up-to-date to address emerging threats.

Vulnerability Management & Patching: Regularly assess system vulnerabilities and ensure timely application of patches and updates to HBSS tools. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure that endpoints remain in compliance with security policies and meet internal and external regulatory standards (e.g., NIST, DISA STIGs, etc.).

Security Audits & Compliance: Conduct regular security audits to ensure that HBSS systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements.

Qualifications for the HBSS Engineer:

-5 years of experience in HBSS

-Active Security Clearance TS preferred but will sponsor TS clearance

-Bachelor's degree

Compensation for the HBSS Engineer:

  • $145,000 - $180,000 Depending on Experience.
