The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. The Industry and Security Analysis Group (ISAG) provides analytical, technical, and program support to promote, grow, and protect the U.S. industrial base. ISAG's support spans the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Commerce, and other agencies to deliver critical decision support to national security leaders. Our team informs policy decisions, enables execution of comprehensive strategies and monitors and reports on the effectiveness of implementation. This enables senior leaders to execute strategies for developing and sustaining a robust industrial base that meets our nation's strategic resource objectives. From policy to practice, we are a team of economic and national security professionals providing innovative solutions for our Nation's most pressing security challenges. We have an upcoming need for an Industrial Security Analyst Intern to provide onsite support out of Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities The Industry Security Analyst Intern will enhance America's national security by supporting USG programs that grow and protect the Nation's industrial base and global economic interests. In close coordination with ISAG's Business Intelligence and Economic Security teams, you will provide business intelligence, economic analysis, and market assessments of the industrial base. In this role you will connect large diverse data sources from government, commercial, and open sources to empower decisions that ensure robust, innovative, affordable, and technologically superior industrial capabilities today and in the future. Timeline for intern selection: Applications can be submitted and will be reviewed until 28 October 202 4 . Interviews will be ongoing and selections made by 31 October 2024. Offers/decisions will be extended by 7 November 2024. Qualifications Required: Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Analytics, Systems Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, or related field 0-2 years of experience performing analysis Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in the areas of Business, Finance, Economics, or Political Science Ability to research complex economic topics on short notice and develop concise, informative reports and briefings Demonstrated ability to analyze technical problems by developing research questions, implementing appropriate analytical methods, and presenting results Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) U.S. citizen and eligible for a Secret clearance Desired: Understanding and interest in developing mathematical models to solve target problems and data gathering, cleaning, and analysis Familiarity or interest in learning about data analysis tools such as Python and Stata
