Job description

Consulting Services Group is seeking a Contracts Subject Matter Expert to work for our customer in Northern Virginia. The Government Contracts Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide specialized expertise and guidance in government contracting to support strategic goals and compliance requirements. The SME will be responsible for interpreting and advising on multi-million-dollar complex contracts, federal acquisition regulations, and government procurement processes. This role demands a deep understanding of government contract law, policies, and best practices, ensuring contracts are administered efficiently and in accordance with relevant regulations. The Government Contracts SME will serve as the primary advisor on government contracting matters, including interpretation and application of federal, state, and local regulations. Responsibilities: Contract Guidance and Interpretation: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and primary advisor on government contracting matters, including interpretation and application of federal, state, and local regulations.
Analyze complex contract terms and conditions, providing clear and actionable recommendations to stakeholders. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Department of Energy Acquisition Regulation 970 (DEAR), and other applicable laws and regulations.
Monitor changes in regulations and advise on necessary adjustments to contract management practices. Contract Administration: Provide recommendations for oversight of government contracts, from negotiation and award through performance and closeout.
Develop recommendations for the management and resolution of issues related to contract performance, including disputes and compliance concerns. Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs on government contracting processes and regulations for internal teams.
Create and maintain documentation and resources to support ongoing education and best practices.
Strategic Planning and Support: Collaborate with procurement, legal, and finance teams to develop strategies for contract management.
Provide strategic insights and recommendations to optimize contract performance and achieve objectives.
Audit and Review: Provide guidance for internal and external audits related to government contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Prepare and review audit documentation and responses to audit findings. Required Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have a current/active DOD Top Secret Security / SCI (eligible)
Must have previous experience in government contracting, with demonstrated expertise in FAR, DFARS, and DEAR regulations.
Must have familiarity with Management & Operating (M&O) contracts as defined in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 17.6.
Must have proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notes).
Must have proficiency in contract management software.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in government contracting, with demonstrated expertise in FAR and DFARS regulations. Experience in a senior or advisory role is highly desirable.
Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level II or above Desired Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of government contracting principles, regulations, and procedures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex contract terms and conditions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively across departments.
Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM preferred. Security Clearance:
Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Law, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM preferred. Work Environment Work is typically performed in an office environment, requiring the use of computer terminals and standard office equipment to accomplish work objectives. Travel: Occasional short term CONUS travel may be required.

Job Location: On site in Northern Virginia. Remote telework is not available.
