Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the coordination of total patient care needs for the medical, surgical , outpatient, observation, swing bed patients, and pediatric patients on Med/Surg/Pedi . Collaborates with and directs the activities of others to meet patient care needs for this population of patients and utilizes the Nursing Process as a basis for nursing decisions. Delivers care appropriate for the patient's age, physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental needs; accountable to the Unit Manager and, while on duty, interacts closely with the Clinical Coordinator and/or Nursing Supervisor.

Responsibilities:
Performs patient assessments based upon age, physiological, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental and biological standards.
Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
Participates in providing teaching/learning opportunities for patients and/or families.
Documents nursing care on the patient record consistent with standards.
Administers medication accurately and safely.
Uses equipment required for implementation of patient care according to procedure/operating guidelines.
Assists in daily operation and department objectives.
Complies with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, various hospital "codes", fire safety, infection control, emergency procedures, time and attendance and other hospital policies.
Demonstrates the ability to organize his/her time effectively and efficiently. Manages a typical work assignment. Is productive. Assists others when able.

Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing for Registered Nurse. This can be an entry level nursing position with no experience required. BSN preferred.
Current Vermont Registered Nurse license or Compact State Nursing License
Current BCLS or Willing to Obtain one prior to start (Required)
Preferred certifications: Certification in Med/Surg Nursing, ACLS. (Preferred)
Good mathematical ability.
Good interpersonal skills, problem solving and decision making skills, and good written and oral communication skills.
