Job description

Job Duties: Assist high school students (grades 9-12) in developing academic plans, setting goals, and exploring post-secondary education and career options. Provide individual and group counseling sessions to high school students to address academic, personal, social, and emotional concerns. Respond to crisis situations and provide immediate support and intervention as needed. Provide guidance and resources to students regarding college applications, scholarships, vocational training, and career exploration. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and other mental health professionals to support student success and address academic and behavioral concerns. Provide assistance and support to students during times of transition, critical change, or other situations impeding student success. This includes but is not limited to actively participating in SST, IEP, 504, meetings, etc., and analyzing data to identify students' needs. Develop and implement counseling programs and workshops to promote student wellness, resilience, and academic success. Conduct assessments and, when appropriate, refer students to external resources, such as mental health services and other organizations. Develop a variety of special programs (e.g., career night, financial aid workshops, etc.) to assist students and families in the successful transition from high school to career, training, and/or continuing education. Supervises assigned programs (e.g., scholarships, peer counseling, special education, ESL, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and achieving overall curriculum objectives. Evaluate school counseling programs thoroughly, share insights with stakeholders, and demonstrate the positive impact on students resulting from the counseling program. Job Requirements: Masters degree in School Counseling or related degree. Foreign equivalent degree accepted. Must be willing to apply for a Utah Professional Educator License with a school counselor (K-12) concentration. Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling sessions to students to address academic, personal, social, and emotional concerns. Demonstrated ability to consult with administrators, teachers, parents, and other professionals about student concerns, prevention, and intervention strategies. Demonstrated ability to create, develop, and deliver presentations to students on academic, personal, social, and/or emotional issues. Demonstrated ability to work with students directly in addressing a wide range of student behaviors.
