Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an experienced team leader for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system, known as the Sentinel ICBM Program. The Sentinel Program (formerly known as GBSD) is an enormous and complex "Mega-Project" replacing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without a doubt, Sentinel is one of the Department of Defense's (DoD's) most important acquisition efforts for the next decade, if not longer. It includes a complete refurbishment or replacement of more than five hundred aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly-designed, technologically-advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command & control system (including an updated airborne launch capability) as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the next 4-5 decades. This is a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to deploy over a nine-year period beginning in the late 2020s and remaining operational until at least 2075.
This position directly supports the Sentinel Program's Software Branch as they acquire the weapon system software capabilities for the next generation ICBM. Areas of responsibility for the Software Branch include: Establishing and executing the Software Lifecycle Management Plan Oversight of all software development Traceability of system requirements to software requirements, architecture, and code Review of all software CDRLs Verifying software suitability through major design reviews Ensuring the safety and nuke surety of software All Software "ilities": Quality, Reliability, Maintainability, etc. Promoting best practices for software development Promoting DevSecOps Establishing software deployment strategies Duties will include: Managing a team of engineers who directly support the Air Force customer in oversight of the software development for the Sentinel missile system. Conduct hiring activities and ensure team alignment with customer needs. Providing expert advice and support to Sentinel program leaders on all software aspects throughout the acquisition cycle. Driving team performance and development through coaching, mentoring, and training. Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status. Required Education, Experience, & Skills 10 years of experience in direct program/project management (8 years with an MS degree). Must have a current Secret security clearance or higher (within last 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation). Must be able to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable timeframe. Familiarity with software and systems engineering practices and procedures. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Experience leading/managing a team of direct-reports is highly desirable. Experience with Minuteman III ICBM weapon system is a plus. DoD acquisitions program experience is desirable. High level of proficiency using office software such as Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is very desirable. Self-motivated with superior verbal and written communications skills in addition to sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with Air Force customers as well as senior company managers. Experience with Earned Value Management; Cost Accounts; and schedule management concepts are desirable. Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115110 - $195660 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
