Job description

Under the general supervision of the IDD Provider Director, establishes a classroom site for delivery of curriculum, along with purchasing supplies. Select a maximum of 12 apprentices with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and establish integrated employment opportunities with area employers. Supervise apprentices directly by monitoring, providing productive feedback and direction. Market program to all outside providers and coordinate with Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and all other external employers. Remain within budgetary parameters to ensure efficient operation. Identify opportunities for growth and expansion while keeping the primary foundation of program secure. Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to provide skills training/ job coaching in all work situations that individuals served through the program would experience. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, treat and monitor the needs of individuals served. Fine motor skills that lend to legible and accurate writing of reports, charting, scheduling, daily correspondence, and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance sufficient to work an eight-hour day with an hour break time. Work hours may vary significantly. Ability to work independently and take initiative in situations where methods/procedures are not specifically defined. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written communication. Physical Abilities: Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 15 pounds, sit for an extended period, and reach overhead. Mobility and ability to bend and reach during and an 8-hour day Education: High school diploma required. Associate degree or higher preferred with major in rehabilitation, business, marketing, or a related human services field. Experience: One year of paid or unpaid experience working with intellectual and developmental disability individuals preferred.
