M-F (Full-time- Day shift)

As a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), you will prepare, administer and document medications given to facility residents under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) within regulatory time frames. In addition, the CMA will monitor residents' vital signs as indicated; observe residents for expected actions; observe reportable, suspected and adverse reactions to medications administered; and prepare verbal and written reports related to successful or unsuccessful medication administration, changes in resident condition and/or departures from usual and routine
Job Responsibilities
As a Certified Medication Aide, you will prepare and administer oral, topical and suppository medications to residents as prescribed by the physician. You will also count and calculate dosages on a daily basis and document the number of scheduled drugs at the beginning and end of each shift. Additionally, the Certified Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide will:
Report any observations concerning resident/patient condition, emergency situations or difficulties with medications to the supervising nurse throughout the shift should they occur
Document vital signs, medication administration resident behaviors associated with medication administration and facility incident and accident reports
Meet with supervisory staff to report, review and discuss medication administration process and participate in review response
Participate in designing and implementing resident care plans in relation to medication administration
Record and replace medications and medication administration supplies; maintains and clean medication cart to remain compliant with facility policies and procedures
Provide direct resident care within the scope of the CMA role and continue direct care activities and other relevant nursing assistant duties as assigned
As a Certified Medication Aide , you will need a high school diploma or equivalent and must be a CMA in good standing. Additionally, the ideal Certified Medication Aide candidate will have:
6 months experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), experience in a long-term care facility preferred
Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and transfer residents (up to 100 pounds unassisted), bend, twist, push and pull
Knowledge of medical terminology, skill in administering nursing techniques including taking vital signs, medication administration and knowledge of possible side effects
Exceptional organization skills, ability to prepare and maintain accurate resident charts, reports and observations
Effective communication skills and interpersonal relations
Good problem solving and independent thinking skills
Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices
