Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 5+ years supply chain experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience with a beverage, food or liquid consumer products manufacturer
  • 5 years of managing groups of teams to establish and achieve procurement objectives and vendor relations
  • Previous supervisory experience, strong facilitation, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written), strong computer skills

General Overview:

The Supply Chain Manager oversees the scheduling of all production at the plant to ensure customer orders are met. Performs raw material purchasing duties including ordering raw materials for production using Lean principles, ensuring FIFO rotation of raw materials, receiving all raw materials and correcting inventory discrepancy issues. Facilitates continuous improvement efforts in regard to raw materials. Plans, coordinates, and manages yearly inventory process. Oversees Inventory Control Specialist and/or Raw Material Purchaser. Liaison with Customer Service and the plant.

Essential Functions:

  • Scheduling
    • Using JDE, schedule production of all full goods to ensure the highest efficiency possible and to fulfill customer order requirements.
    • Track progress of production and review factors which affect schedules. Works with Shift Manager and production staff to maximize production schedules.
    • Monitor and ensure that all strategic inventory goals are met and monitor production progress to the forecast.
    • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, an engineering.
    • Ensure the production lines are able to maximize efficiencies and minimize downtime, based off of coordination with production staff and scheduling of the lines.
  • Raw Materials Purchasing
    • Using JDE, order all production inventory raw materials.
    • Manage timely receipt of materials based production schedule to prevent production downtime, and ensure right-sized inventories. Understand vendor lead times to schedule ordering of materials.
    • Establish and maintain Kanbans using historical data and forecasting.
    • Develop and manage systems to help maintain correct inventories. Monitor product inventories.
    • Verify and enter receipts of all raw materials.
    • Confer with other Managers, employees, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
    • Establish and maintain communications with other Managers and Team Leads regarding status of raw materials and maximizing up-time on the production lines.
    • Cycle count to verify inventory accuracy as needed.
    • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history. This is done in person, and via phone and internet.
    • Lead annual inventories of raw materials and finished goods.
    • Continuously improve the scheduling and raw materials processes to ensure continued profitability and sustainability.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedure and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of the structure of the English language including reading, writing, and oral comprehension and oral and written expression.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, evaluation of customer satisfaction, and actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solution, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

GMP & PPE Required:

While on the production floor in the plant, you will be required to follow and help to enforce all GMP regulations in the plant. Anyone entering the production floor must follow the GMP rules in their employee handbook, which includes the required hairnets, beard nets, and earplugs. It is also required that all personnel wear safety glasses. Follows standard operating procedures including quality checks and procedures for all operations. Also follows HACCP and SQF requirements for food quality and safety.
