Summary:
From a remote work setting, provides guidance and support to registered nurses who work in direct patient care at CMC Plano. Utilizes the nursing process in helping others with the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs. Delivers care to patients/families remotely during admissions and discharges, and if staffing needs require onsite patient care. The Registered Nurse Virtual job is part of a Pilot Program and as such will be evaluated after a predetermined period of time for continued use, adjustment, or discontinuation.

Responsibilities:
Uses clinical expertise to provide support to nurses at the bedside.
Completes chart audits and communicates findings with bedside staff.
Responsible and accountable for directing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
Performs admission profile documentation and discharge teaching with families.
Collaborates with bedside staff to ensure patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions towards achieving the best patient outcomes.
Advocates for the patient, represents the concerns of the patient/family and identifies and assists in resolving ethical and clinical concerns.
Accurately & thoroughly documents all patient encounters in EPIC. Other information:

WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 5 years bedside nursing experience in the PICU Req

EDUCATION
Four-year Bachelor's degree - BSN Req

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements

• PALS within 180 day of hire

• CCRN req
