Job Summary:
Provides awake night monitoring of clients to ensure the safety and well-being of the clients.
Essential Functions
Compliance:
- Ensure that all client environments are in compliance with minimum standards
- Maintain client safety guidelines
- Ensure that clients are free from neglect and abuse
- Report allegations of neglect and abuse to TDFPS and/or Executive Director or his designee
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Ensure that all clients are properly supervised and cared for according to BAC Policy
- Adhere to the BAC Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics
- Adhere to employee rules and company policy
- Report concerns to a supervisor
- Relay information to supervisor and / or appropriate staff
- Follow through with supervisor requests / assignments
- Ensure that BAC is a harassment-free work place
Teaching Home:
- Ensure that the home is clean and free from unsanitary conditions at all times
- Assist in household chores as needed
- Take initiative to perform duties
Monitoring of Clients:
- Stay alert and awake throughout entire shift
- Make rounds to check on areas of the Teaching Home as outlined by supervisor
- Monitor clients closely at all times
- Ensure that clients do not engage in inappropriate or dangerous behavior
- Wake up the Teaching Parents in the event that the client demonstrates any inappropriate behavior, when there is a potentially dangerous situation, or in the event of an emergency
- Maintain an atmosphere in the home that respects the needs of all individuals
- Work quietly to ensure that there is minimal disruption to the clients sleeping environment
- Maintain documentation (i.e. sleep logs, data collection, etc.) as required
Treatment of Clients:
- Treat clients with kindness, dignity, and respect
- Advise management of any medical, behavioral, or academic needs of the client
- Verbally intervene with clients appropriately
- Implement the client's programs in proactive and consistent manner
Attitude:
- Work cooperatively as a team member
- Display positive work attitude
- Support all areas of the program (Educational Program, Recreation, Animal Care, etc.)
- Demonstrate professionalism
- Treat staff and coworkers with respect
- Promote positive image of BAC while in the community and dealing with community
- Refrain from allowing personal opinions or biases to interfere with client progress
- Model appropriate social behavior to clients
General:
- Comply with attendance requirements
- Perform job requirements without requiring excessive supervision
- Refrain from pursuing personal activities while on duty or allowing personal issues to interfere with work
- Take initiative/be a self starter in carrying out job duties
- Exhibit good time management skills
Personnel File:
- Maintain continuing education as appropriate including licenses, certification and training hours
- Keep personnel folder in compliance
Other:
- Any other assigned duties as outlined by Program Director, or Executive Director
Personal Attributes:
- Demonstrate the ability to remain awake throughout the night
- Must be able to maintain line of sight supervision of multiple clients
- Demonstrate the ability to work quietly
- Demonstrate concern and care for children with special needs
- Demonstrate the ability to work in special education environment
- Demonstrate the ability to work well with others
- Possess the ability to be flexible in task assignment
- Recognize safe and unsafe conditions
Working Conditions:
- Working indoors
- Quiet work area that allows clients and staff to sleep
- Work in close proximity to clients
- Clients may exhibit aggressive behavior
- Entire shift is spent focused on needs of clients - personal errands or appointments must be done during off time
- Tobacco-free / smoke-free / drug-free environment
- No designated breaks
Risks:
- Exposure to body fluids
- Exposure to open wounds of others
- Risk of physical aggression, including human bites, by a student
- Use/Misuse of chemicals
- Injuries related to equipment use

Job Skills/Requirements:
A. Education:
MinimumHigh School Diploma / GED

Required - CPR

As scheduled following the Training Calendar

1. Must pass Criminal History Check
2. Must pass Drug and Alcohol Testing (initial and on-going)
