The Role:
As a member of the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, Managers oversee, manage, and complete tax projects; provide innovative state and local jurisdictional tax planning, consulting, compliance, refund reviews, and tax controversy audit support. Managers work closely with the Commercial and Private Client services to review multi-state returns and identify client issues and opportunities. Managers are involved in the process of identifying, marketing, and implementing tax strategies for clients.
Managers maintain active communication with clients to ensure satisfaction, meet deadlines, and lead change effectively. Managers conduct primary and secondary review of complex tax returns and consulting projects. Managers lead their teams in knowledge of software, processes, and workflows. Managers participate in the professional development of Associates and Senior Associates, which involves supervising, training, mentoring, and evaluating performance.
The Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related degree preferred;
Advanced credential required (i.e. CPA, JD, or IPT certification);
At least 5 years relevant work experience with an accounting firm, including at least 3 years of State and Local Tax experience;
Leadership and organizational skills;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural facilitator;
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;
Self-starter with the initiative to seek out opportunities and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment; and
Proficient use of technology including MS Excel.
