Job description

The Data Engineer Supervisor at McLane Intelligent Solutions will play a pivotal role in leading our data engineering team, ensuring that our data architecture is robust, scalable, and aligned with our business needs. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, as the supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of data systems and processes. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative environment and mentor team members while also engaging with other departments to understand data requirements and drive data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the data engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and architectures.

Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to collect and define data requirements.

Ensure data quality and consistency across data systems.

Monitor and optimize data workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.

Mentor and guide team members to enhance their technical skills and career development.

Oversee the integration of new data sources and systems with existing infrastructure.

Implement best practices for data management and governance.

Work closely with data analysts and scientists to support their data needs.

Stay current with emerging trends in data engineering and related technologies.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field (Master's degree is preferred).

Demonstrated experience as a Data Engineer or in a comparable position focused on data architecture and management.

High proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java.

Experience with ETL tools and data pipeline architectures.

Familiarity with data warehousing technologies (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).

Knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling techniques.

Experience with Power BI and Microsoft Azure (including Data Lake).

Proven track record in team leadership and management.

Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

Capability to work effectively across teams and departments.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is advantageous.

Understanding of data governance, data privacy, and compliance regulations.
