Position Summary:

Vallen's Quality and Safety Coordinator (Safety Analyst) is an individual contributor responsible for cultivating environmental performance of their assigned AIW site. You will observe and report on activities through audit and oversight to develop, implement, maintain, and continually improve the company management system. This role supports managers ensuring the site is compliant with environment-related laws, standards, and guidelines. Identifies, plans and initiates training need, for associates, site managers, and assist with overall compliance of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and The Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. The Quality and Safety Coordinator also ensures industrial machinery is maintained and repaired. The Quality and Safety Coordinator safeguards factory equipment and other industrial machinery, such as conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan and carry out QHSE audits as per the audit schedule:

  • Own audits from cradle to grave.
  • Assist with the development of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor and facilitate audits to be closed on time.

Conduct QHSE training as required:

  • Facilitate and monitor the weekly QHSE training.
  • QHSE electronic database training.

QHSE Incident Reporting

  • Facilitate incident reporting within the company.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and participate as necessary with incident investigations.

Management Support

  • Prepare reports as required on time and with exceptional communication skills, including local QHSE statistics, commercial or business development QHSE documents, etc.

Project Management Support

  • Prepare all QHSE documents as per the Project Management Process.
  • Attending all project meetings as required, internal and external.
  • Support the Project Manager with the implementation of all QHSE aspects to ensure a successful project

QHSE Administration

  • Prepare QHSE SOPs, procedures, etc. as required.
  • Participate in the review of QHSE documentation as required.
  • Assist with the management of external databases, such as ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, etc. as required.
  • Work within and maintain the electronic reporting database.

Field support

  • Audit and monitor external field locations and reports as required.
  • Liaise with site-specific client QHSE management and personnel to build a working relationship.
  • Attend monthly contractor meetings at client sites.
  • Responsible for both Nederland, TX and Sulphur, LA branch sites.

Job Qualifications:

A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in Quality, Industrial and/or Construction Safety.

  • Experience in the field of Environmental Safety and Health.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Grounded knowledge in OSHA requirements.
  • Preferred working knowledge of NFPA, ANSI, ISO (9001,14001,45001), CFR 49 PHMSA Regulations for Compressed Gas and FMCSA DOT Transportation Regulations
  • Working knowledge OSHA standards CFR General Industry and 1926 Construction Industry
  • Knowledge of Internal Auditing Processes
  • Grounded knowledge in Incident Investigation techniques.
  • Must demonstrate manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
  • Be able to communicate well verbally and written on multiple levels.
  • Be able to present in large crowds.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and ability to get the job done correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Strong planning, organizational, time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Word) and the technical aptitude to learn all company-specific programs and software applications.
  • Possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution.

  • The work environment may be physically, chemically, and temperature hazardous and unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, lighting, heat, and layers of PPE.
  • Requires lifting, stooping, bending, and stretching to accomplish assessment evaluations.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
  • May be required to lift to 60
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of personal protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.). PPEs are necessary as there may be exposure to both physical and chemical hazards.
