A job offer is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check, negative drug test satisfactory to the AUI drug and alcohol policy and per state law. Drug test will be performed at a federally certified lab. Upon request, an operator/safety certification must be provided.

As a Safety Technician you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by collaborating with project teams and implementing comprehensive safety programs. The Safety Technician will be responsible for conducting inspections, leading emergency response efforts, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine safety inspections, including documented safety inspections, SWPPP inspections, equipment inspections, and tool inspections.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and worker compensation claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for superintendents and employees, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Inspect and update SWP3 Plans for assigned projects, reporting status weekly on pollution prevention controls.
  • Actively participate in crisis and emergency response planning, conducting drills and simulations.
  • Stay informed about and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to safety and environmental standards.
  • Build positive relationships with project stakeholders, including subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory entities.


1) Inspections:

  • Report Safety Inspection findings to the Project Superintendent and Operations team.
  • Ensure recommended changes have been implemented.
  • Routine Safety Inspections including but not limited to:
  • Documented Safety Inspections
  • Documented SWPPP Inspections
  • Equipment Inspections
  • Tool Inspections
  • Use independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives.
  • Assist the Safety Supervisor/Safety Team on Worker Compensation claims and other claims involving the public, vehicles, utilities and equipment.
  • Assist with ordering and distributing required Personal Protective Equipment to site personnel as requested.
  • Attend and participate in routine Pre-construction, Project and Subcontractor Meetings
  • Ensure that Safety Expectations on assigned projects are met.
  • Ensure that required information is posted and in proper locations such as; signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards.
  • Conduct safety inspections of jobsite to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, utilizing corporate safety policy/OSHA regulations as guidelines.

2) Accident and Incident Investigations

  • Conduct Utility Claim Investigations within 24 hours and provide a report to the Safety Supervisor for safety files and records.
  • Provide support and investigate any reports of accidents and injuries and gather materials and evidence.
  • Ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Participate in follow-up and investigative meetings and Root Cause Analysis meetings.
  • Assist in transporting site personnel with a work-related injury or illness to a medical provider.
  • Assist in administering drug and alcohol policy/program - new hire drug testing, reasonable suspicion, post-accident drug testing, etc.

3) Safety Training

  • Assist and conduct Educational/Training sessions for superintendents and required employees.
  • Conduct any additional Safety Training and Safety Education as it becomes necessary.
  • Perform Site Specific Safety Orientation and New Hire Orientation as required.
  • Maintain and update safety training records and certification information for personnel.

4) Technology and Software


  • Utilize digital tools for documenting safety inspections, incident reports, and compliance updates
  • Leverage emerging technologies in the field of occupational safety.

5) Environmental:

  • Inspect and update the SWP3 Plan for the assigned project(s).
  • Report status weekly of the pollution prevention controls in place on assigned projects to the Construction Safety Admin, Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • During the Project, conduct routine SWP3 inspections on compliance signage and report findings to the Superintendent and Construction Safety Admin at end of each inspection.
  • Represent the company regarding EPA, TCEQ, and City and local entities.

6) Emergency and Crisis Management:

  • Conducting drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures and enhance preparedness.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of crisis management procedures and maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Coordinating timely and efficient responses to unforeseen safety incidents to minimize potential impact.

7) Travel and Transportation:


  • Travel to job sites frequently, which may involve driving to various locations.
  • Ensure the availability and maintenance of a reliable transportation vehicle.

8) Regulatory Compliance:


  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations and permits related to solar installations.
  • Ensure all installations comply with relevant codes and standards.


  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Must have OSHA 30
  • Proven safety tech experience 2+ years preferred in construction industry preferrably Solar/Battery Storage
  • 510 Preferred
  • CPR/First Aid AED up to date
  • Able to clearly communicate both in writing and verbally
  • Experience in Safety Software/Program preferred - Procore or similar
  • Road Warrior - Travel extensively and be onsite at all times
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OHST, ASP) is a plus
  • Proficient in safety management software and incident reporting tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough safety inspections and accident investigations
  • Knowledge of crisis management procedures and experience in coordinating emergency responses
  • Familiarity with learning management systems for tracking employee safety training
  • Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and industry best practices in occupational safety
