Job Summary

The Events Specialist is responsible for creating, planning, coordinating, managing, and executing various events to support the University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso (UMCF) and El Paso Children's Hospital Foundation's (EPCHF) mission, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives. The Events Specialist collaborates with foundation staff, hospitals, the Board of Directors, and others to create memorable experiences for donors, volunteers, and community members.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Work Experience:

Three years of experience in event planning and management, preferably within a nonprofit organization or similar organization.

License/Registration/Certification:

None.

Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, communications, or a related field is required.

Skills:

    1. Strong knowledge of event planning best practices, processes, and industry trends.
    2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and event management software.
    3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences and create compelling event experiences.
    4. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    5. Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and creative skills.
    6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    7. A strong commitment to the mission and values of the nonprofit organization.
    8. Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends for events and meetings.
    9. Project management skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills are crucial.
    10. Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including staff, volunteers, donors, and external partners.
    11. Interpersonal skills: Ability to work well with others, build relationships, and work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
    12. Technology skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and event management software. Familiarity with digital communication tools like email marketing platforms and social media.
    13. Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, as required by the event schedule. Travel may also be required.
    14. Problem-solving skills: Ability to think creatively, troubleshoot issues, and find solutions under pressure.
    15. Passion for the cause: A genuine interest in and commitment to the nonprofit's mission and goals.
