The Position:The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for supporting accounting and financial reporting for RPM. This role will be responsible for financial reporting, cash management and the general ledger for a portfolio of properties.

The Salary: The anticipated salary range is $65,000 - $85,000 annually.

This role is eligible for remote

Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines/requirements while adhering to accounting policies and procedures and maintaining effective internal controls

Prepare financials for multiple clients with different reporting requirements

Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and property management in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service

Requires the use of detailed technical accounting skills to assess appropriateness of accounting treatment

Requires cash flow management to pay the property expenses and to predict the need for funding

Records journal entries & accruals, reconciles income, and documents prepaid rent in industry specific software

Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly

Perform bank reconciliations as appropriate

Perform cash disbursement through wires and checks, prepares invoicing and inter-company collections, and maintains a daily cash balance

Act as a mentor to help train new or less experienced accounting staff

Approve for payment timely Utility Reimbursement(s) for residents, whenever applicable

Assist operations team with Repair and Replacement Draws

Collaborate with external auditors on REAC Audits' requests

Prepare ad hoc reporting for the affordable housing entities, as requested

Participate in the preparation & maintenance of written policies & procedures for functions/duties performed

Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Executive Team

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience

2+ Years of Property Management Experience Preferred or equivalent

Preferred Industry Specific Software: RealPage/Onesite

Prior accounting experience with affordable housing assets (ie HUD, Housing Authorities, LIHTC, TDHCA, Section 8) Preferred

Requirements, Monthly MARS Reporting, Owner Distribution Guidelines (Surplus Cash Calculations)

Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements:

May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time

Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data

Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer

May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds

Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment

Work Environment:

This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week.

The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions.
