Job Summary
As the Controller, you will act as the financial steward of our company, overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reports, compliance with legal regulations, and the implementation of effective financial strategies and controls. Your role will cover a broad range of financial functions including cash forecasting, preparation and review of profit and loss statements, balance sheet reconciliations, financial job reviews, and more. Your expertise in accounting principles, proficiency in relevant software, and experience in the construction industry will be pivotal in driving our financial planning and decision-making.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting principles.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, job cost accounting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, adhering to the company's financial closing schedule.
• Lead the accounting operations, including ledger accounts, receivables, payables, and payroll processing.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure integrity in financial transactions and reporting.
• Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit, providing necessary information and implementing recommendations.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget, forecast financial outcomes, and report variances to the management team.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Develop and mentor the accounting team, identifying training needs and overseeing professional development.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role within the construction industry.
License/Certification Preferred:
Advanced degree or certification (CPA or CMA) preferred.
Associated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job cost and percentage of completion accounting.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, NetSuite, Procore, and Microsoft Excel.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Working Environment & Conditions/Physical Requirements
Some travel may be required for business meetings and audits 10-20%
May occasionally work beyond posted work hours as well as work overtime due to demand.
Primarily office-based, with prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally
