POSITION TITLE: Level II Technician, Cable Splicing
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

ADB is seeking a Level II Technician, Cable Splicing to assist with various underground, aerial and ISP fiber splicing projects. This position will prep fiber optic cables, perform single splice and ribbon splice procedures, utilizes various splicing hand tools and testers, etc. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation of splicing knowledge, a safety centric approach, as well as a strong work ethic and ALL IN attitude to achieve results.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs mid-level jobsite preparation for various underground, aerial and ISP fiber placement splicing projects
Has mid-level ability to prep fiber optic cables using shavers and splitters for splicing projects, including armored, dielectric, MIC, wet, dry etc.
Ability to determine the following: cable direction in all circumstances, safe practices within all splicing functions when entering splice cases, etc.
Installs various fiber optic cables into an assortment of fiber splicing cases
Ability to ring-tap cable into splicing cases
Performs a variety of fiber splicing cuts and testing within a live fiber optic tray
Mid-level understanding of opening vaults and hand holes
Ability to route aerial, underground, ISP cables to include hanging aerial and installation in racks, shelves, and storage locations
Entry level ability to perform single mode and ribbon splicing for both butt and lateral enclosures while following color codes, OTDR and Power Meter testing, and reading splicing matrixes
Processes cable relocations and hot cuts with hand hole organization
Determines equipment within a customer facility and will interface with Network Control Centers (NOC)
Operates an assortment of hand tools including, but not limited to, diagonal cutters, razor blades, ribbon splitters, etc.
Reads and interprets entry level constructions prints and drawing
Performs maintenance on various splicing equipment
Ensure safety requirements are being always followed
Safely operates company vehicles and construction equipment as needed and directed by leadership
Performs other position duties as assigned by leadership

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.
May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite
When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1-3+ years of experience performing or assisting with fiber optic splicing projects
High School Diploma or equivalent required
