What You'll Do
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the payroll process to ensure the nuanced needs of our staff are captured timely. Responsibilities include processing timesheets, updating payroll records, and answering employee questions about payments, ensuring employees are compensated correctly and on time. Role requires great attention to detail and outstanding analytical and numerical skills.

Responsibilities:

Work Standards
Ensure payroll is operating in a manner that is consistent with the Agency's fiscal philosophy, policies, and is operating efficiently and effectively
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Communication
Audit payroll entries after each payroll is processed to validate transactions have posted correctly
Utilize the ticketing system, currently ZenDesk, to track communications with staff
Be able to research and address payroll and timekeeping related questions in systems
Run reports when requested by internal stakeholders or by other business partners
Fiscal Management
Prepare and process biweekly payroll accurately and effectively; inclusive of pre-payroll review of data to ensure an error-free payroll run
Prepare and research processing and import of timesheets from timekeeping system into HRIS
Process manual checks as needed
Process employee loans as submitted and ensure proper recovery of balances, inclusive of collecting balances from separating employees and employees with status changes from full-time to PRN
Review final pay checks of separating employees to ensure accurate payout
Calculate retroactive pay when necessary
Recording and maintaining supporting documentation for changes to employee records related to payroll transactions

Work closely with People and Culture team to ensure information is accurate
Assist employees with payroll related questions while providing a high level of customer service
Work closely with the Finance and People and Culture leadership and teams to ensure payroll accuracy

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area of study; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of education requirement. Must have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
2 years of proven experience as a payroll coordinator or similar payroll experience
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience in supporting internal teams with a customer service approach
Proven skills in written and verbal communication, especially interpersonal skills
Integrity, professionalism, and dedicated work ethic
Success in working on a team and independently
Personal and professional confidence accompanied by a sense of humor and empathy toward others
Self-motivated and proven ability to work as a member of a high-performance team
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of UKG payroll and time-keeping system
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Physical Demands & Work Conditions
This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children
Lift, push, pull, move up to 10 lbs.
