The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the procurement and inventory control of indirect materials to support the production floor and maintenance departments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description - other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.

  • Review and confirm specifications, quantities, price, lead-times, and requirements on the Purchase Orders.
  • Maintain and organize records and reports for efficient and timely referencing, as required by purchasing procedures.
  • Prepares purchase orders and bid requests.
  • Manage annual pricing on MRO. Pricing negotiations with support from direct Supervisor.
  • Blanket Purchase Orders (BPO) indirect (support direct as needed)
  • Review and follow up on past due Purchase Orders
  • Support maintenance with materials required for scheduled PM's
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels within established goals and develop supplier stocking programs.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding expediting, late deliveries, and pricing discrepancies
  • Assist Accounting to resolve receipt and payment discrepancies on purchase orders and invoices
  • Adheres to purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
  • With support from direct supervisor, negotiates best vendor terms, pricing, and delivery based on a specific budget and schedule requirements.
  • Support Company/Department goals of reducing cost, quality, safety, and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Assist department Supervisor and Buyers as needed
  • Interfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues as necessary.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 - 3 years of related job experience
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to small details as well as strong math skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a structured team
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing terminology and practices
