Overview: We are hiring a Cyber Governance Group Leader to manage our governance, risk, and compliance program initiatives! The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker having exceptional leadership abilities and superior communication and comprehension skills. This position resides in the Cybersecurity Division, Information Technology Services Directorate, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). As a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science national laboratory, ORNL has an extraordinary 80-year history of solving the nation's biggest problems. Major Duties/Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a group of cyber governance and risk analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Develop and implement strategic initiatives to mature our Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform capabilities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to align cyber security policies with organizational objectives.
Represent ORNL in DOE OCIO and Office of Science working groups, demonstrating leadership in cyber initiatives.
Expertly analyze and interpret complex laws, regulations, and industry standards related to cybersecurity.
Craft clear, concise, and comprehensive cyber security plans at both enterprise and system levels.
Develop and present compelling risk and compliance reports to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Critically evaluate and synthesize information from various sources to inform strategic decision-making.
Provide executive level presentations outlining Cyber risk and compliance activities.

Basic Qualifications: A BS in computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, science, business, or a related field of study and ten (10) to twelve (12) years of aligned professional experience is required for consideration. An overall combination of equivalent experience may be considered.
A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of leadership experience.
Proven track record of team leadership and project management in cybersecurity or related field.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex ideas and develop easily understandable policies or procedures for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and implementing compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST). Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) or more years of leadership experience.
Experience leading teams in a federal government or research laboratory setting.
MS or Ph.D. in computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, science, business, or a related field of study.
Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP).
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within assigned timeframes, and to adapt to evolving needs. Special Requirements: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge. This position requires the ability to acquire and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
