OVERVIEW:

The Payroll Analyst is responsible for generating and processing payroll and performing of its underlying functions.

This job has a hybrid work schedule for training purposes in the Knoxville office. Working remote is a strong possibility after training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with processing bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for multiple FEINs
  • Under limited supervision, manages multiple projects and ongoing operational responsibilities while monitoring, summarizing, communicating, and reporting status to the Manager
  • Keeps abreast of changes, developments regarding payroll administration, taxes and the governing of state and federal rules and laws
  • Interact with Payroll Tax department handling employee payroll tax questions and research
  • Interact with accountants regarding payroll related general ledger issues.
  • General ledger reconciliation for payroll related accounts
  • Maintaining and setting up pay codes and deduction codes in Lawson payroll system
  • Act as liaison between division management and payroll department
  • Prepare workers comp returns quarterly
  • Prepare workers comp audit spreadsheets annually
  • Prepare bureau of labor statistics reports monthly
  • Year End wage adjustments, year-end balancing, and W-2/1099 preparation
  • Completes special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Payroll



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Three to five years of previous high volume and multi state in-house payroll experience, preferably in a 5000+ employee setting
  • Previous payroll tax experience preferred
  • System implementation/upgrades a plus
  • Excellent computer skills (spreadsheet applications and HR/PR systems, i.e. Lawson, WorkDay, Kronos Time Keeping System and Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent quantitative, organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask on projects as assigned
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude
