OVERVIEW
Pullman Standard is an upscale cocktail lounge located in the iconic Cummins Station building, in downtown Nashville, focused on top-shelf liquor and wine, inventive craft cocktails, and creative small plates. The Bar/General Manager will promote and grow the business, hire and train the staff, manage inventory and resources, ensure quality and safety controls are followed, increase profitability and ensure guests receive excellent drinks, food and service.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees daily operations and manages the business aspects of the bar.
- Hires and trains staff to provide excellent service to guests.
- Develops creative food and drink offerings that support the upscale cocktail lounge atmosphere.
- Takes the lead on Tennessee Liquor Law awareness and ensures Pullman Standard is in compliance at all times.
- Supervises and trains staff to be knowledgeable, personable and hospitable.
- Remains in compliance with safety measures always, and consistently achieves a high health code rating.
- Assumes responsibility for resolving problems during course of business; receives and responds to complaints from staff and guests.
- Advertises any current daily, weekly or monthly promotions.
- Ensures bar is well-stocked and clean.
- Tracks guest behavior and sales.
- Regularly monitors revenue through appropriate reports.
- Maintains/Oversees budget in a fiscally responsible manner; monitors costs.
- Oversees planning for special events.
- Initiates and maintains vendor relationships; negotiates supplier contracts.
- Conducts inventory and selects and purchases liquor and other supplies.
- Issues invoices, monitors receivables and is responsible for collections.
- Strives for excellence in maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of all events, expenses, revenues, and payments to external vendors and industry organizations.
- Acts as "Manager on Duty" as required.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience in an upscale bar/cocktail lounge setting
- Valid TABC license or permit
- Associates degree or higher in hotel or restaurant management preferred.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Extensive knowledge of drink (and food) preparation or service.
- Knowledge of computer operations, including Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent service orientation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving guests.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and reach for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to push, pull and lift objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally, from position to position.
- Must be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
- Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
- Will be required to use physical capabilities including climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
- Able to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Able to work in environment with moderate noise levels.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to work varied shifts, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
