Description Responsibilities Responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating nursing in-service education programs as well as coordinating and leading the facilities' Infection Prevention and control program in a positive, empathetic, and professional manner at all times. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. Essential Functions + Assess educational needs and develop/coordinate necessary education programs. + Coordinate orientation programs for new clinical staff. + Act as a general resource for nursing staff. + Educate direct patient care staff in the use of equipment, supplies, and coordinate in-service training and annual competencies. + Provide facility wide infection surveillance, prevention per facility guidelines and best practices. + Prevent and control health care associated infections, including auditing of adherence to infection prevention and control policies and procedures by facility staff, including medical staff. + Gather and interpret data and keep accurate records of all infections. + Compile and present Infection Reports to the Safety/Infection Control Committee and the Performance Improvement Council at assigned intervals. + Inspect environment and observe personnel activities for the purpose of detecting infection hazards. + Train facility staff and medical staff on infection prevention and control protocols. + Assess and re-enforce infection prevention practices. Qualifications Skills Preferred + Planning & Organizing: Intermediate + Attention to Detail: Advanced Behaviors Preferred + Functional Expert: Considered a thought leader on a subject Education Required + Bachelors or better in Nursing/Healthcare Licenses & Certifications Required + Reg Nurse Experience Required + 1 year: One or more years' behavioral health experience required. + 3 years: Three or more years clinical experience combined with/or related to teaching experience required. One or more years' experience in infection control preferred.
