Overview Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical/Surgical Unit Full time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Varied Shifts Fort Loudoun Medical Center is equipped with a team of more than 200 doctors in more than 29 specialty areas. Our 87,000-square-foot hospital features advanced technology, including state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography (CT), Ultrasound, Diagnostic X-Rays and Women's Imaging Services, as well as Nuclear Medicine technology unique to our surrounding counties. The physicians, staff and volunteers of Fort Loudoun Medical Center are dedicated to providing excellent care to every patient, every time. The Medical Surgical Unit is a 46-bed telemetry equipped unit. The department services step down critical care, general medical, and surgical patients. Our staffing mix includes RNs, LPNs, CNAs and HUCs. Our multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, therapists, nutritionists, case managers and direct care staff meet daily to discuss patient s conditions and progress toward their discharge plan. We serve a rapidly growing community with a wide age range. Our staff involves family in the care of the patient through participation and education of the patient s medical condition. Position Summary: The LPN/LVN I will provide nursing care under supervision of a registered nurse, within an assigned unit. Recruiter: Brittany Partello Responsibilities Initiates admission database and history, and in collaboration with the RN implements patient and family teaching and care needs. Practices in compliance with all regulatory standards and adheres to all hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties. Performs and prioritizes nursing care tasks. Accurately follows the nursing plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of RN. Observes and reports nursing interventions and patient responses, and documents in a timely, concise and legible manner. Recognizes, responds and reports changes in patient conditions to RN Team Leader. Participates in unit specific quality assurance activities and patient care conferences as requested. Demonstrates principles of infection control; collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel. Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines. Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Minimum Experience: No prior experience as a LPN/LVN needed. Licensure Requirement: Currently licensed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
