Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Managed Care Litigation Paralegal, you will work both independently and under direction of Senior Counsel in the Legal Department to support all phases of the arbitration and/or litigation of managed care disputes. You will be responsible for a wide variety of managed care litigation tasks. You will work directly with external counsel, vendors and medical and other experts, as well as with internal company departments on all aspects of fact and expert discovery, including the collection and production of electronic data. You will also work with Legal Department staff members on the analysis and reporting of managed care litigation matters
Your responsibilities will include:
90% - Litigation and arbitration management and support
10% - General administration and reporting tasks.
Handling service of process; assisting with legal-hold notices; preparing and filing documents required to initiate arbitration and/or litigation
Creating and maintaining litigation/arbitration files
Handling and reviewing medical records
Conducting legal and internet research
Participation in continuing education to maintain and enhance skills is expected and supported by the company.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
Substantial knowledge of litigation processes and procedures
Ability to work with computerized data bases and research tools.
Familiarity with or ability to learn Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and PowerPoint required.
Familiarity with legal hold software, electronic case management tools, and e-discovery software preferred.
Prior experience with medical records and healthcare a plus.
Education & Experience
3 years of relevant experience or a law degree
Associate degree, paralegal certificate, or 6 years of experience as a paralegal
