Job description
We are looking for an experienced senior rigger capable of leading a small team of other riggers and machinery movers. This is a full-time, salaried position based and operating primarily near Chattanooga. This company is the premier rigging and machinery moving company, with great opportunities for growth and professional development. This is a physically demanding role that requires strong mechanical and spatial reasoning skills and the ability to operate heavy equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safe and efficient execution of projects in keeping with the company mission, vision, and values.
- Lead/supervise/manage junior riggers and facilitate their professional development.
- Conduct site visits; write and submit quotes for pending projects.
- Maintain communication with customers regarding requirements, timing, payment and general expectations. Foster positive relationships with customers.
- Utilize high-capacity forklifts (Versa-Lifts), skates, jacks, and other equipment to rig and move heavy machinery and meet other customer requirements.
- Stay abreast of best/effective practices in the rigging and machinery moving communities and share your findings with DRT teammates.
- Ensure proper pre- and post-project inspections and preventative maintenance are performed on assigned equipment. Ensure the Director of Field Operations and Maintenance Director are aware of equipment that requires corrective maintenance.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as directed.
Qualifications
- NCCO Rigger 1, 2, and Signalman qualifications REQUIRED.
- Class A CDL w/ no restrictions REQUIRED.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a rigger, with at least 3000 documented rigging hours.
- Strong mechanical reasoning and spatial awareness - the ability to look at a piece of machinery and a shop floor and understand what components and other pieces of equipment should and can be moved, removed, or modified in order to move a piece of equipment from point A to point B.
- Situational awareness - the ability to sense and anticipate requirements and potential hazards and develop appropriate on-the-fly solutions to mitigate risk and ensure safe, efficient accomplishment of the assigned task(s).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks repeatedly over the course of an 8-10-hour shift.

Schedule: Monday to Friday; occasional weekends
