Job description

This will be a 2-to-3-year contract and will most likely not convert to and FTE. The Oracle Peoplesoft DBA serves as companies subject matter expert and provides authoritative advice on Oracle databases and Oracle PeopleSoft applications as part of the Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) team. Provides technical leadership and DBA services for customer projects Assists in debugging PeopleSoft errors with developers and when necessary, with the vendor, and tuning PeopleSoft components Performs DBA tasks to install, configure, test, maintain, backup, recover, patch, and upgrade. These tasks include: Managing and maintaining logical database structures, physical structures, data, filesystems, disk sub-systems, accounts/passwords, logical and physical backups, SQL/database tuning, and refreshing non-production environments. Leverages advanced knowledge in multiple technologies; collaborates with peers to analyze the performance of database components and systems to troubleshoot, evaluate performance, and determine capacity. Uses root cause analysis, corrective actions, tactical planning, and strategic planning to correct problems, provide improved responses, and project long-term investments required to provide sufficient support for IT services to the business. Maintains the Oracle PeopleSoft database environment to ensure compliance with configurations, patches, approved designs, and SOX controls. An active participant in the change management process to properly execute change with minimum impact on the services provided. Participates with peers as needed to properly support the IT database infrastructure on a 24x7 basis, including on-call duties, shift work, and emergency support, which may require travel to various locations away from the employee's primary work site. MUST HAVE's: Oracle (currently using 12.1) and Peoplesoft DBA (currently using HCM 9.1 & CRM 9.1) subject matter expert Has a solid understanding and experience with PeopleSoft components such as Tuxedo, Process Scheduler, Integration Broker, Application Messaging, Linux OS, Windows, and Oracle DB infrastructure. DBA tasks such as install, configure, test, maintain, backup, recover, patch, and upgrade. Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering preferred - will accept experience over education. Soft Skill required: Cross-Team Collaboration - someone who can relay information to cross-functional teams inside and outside the organization, working together to bring to project completion Additionally, the role is for full time employment. TVA does support hybrid work conditions. There is a preference for individuals living in the TN, AL, GA, KY, SC, or MS area, but that is not required. The role may be expected to occasionally come into a TVA Office, but this is not the majority of the work. "Occasionally" refers to visiting the facility once or twice a month if necessary. Travel expenses will be covered by the company. Finally, Applicants must be able to achieve a Public Trust Security clearance. This is not negotiable and is a requirement of the role and only US Citizens. Applicants unable or unwilling to do so need not apply. This will include fingerprinting, and an exhaustive 7-year history review conducted by National Security personnel.
