Children's Home Shelter for Family Safety, a program of Children's Home Society, in Sioux Falls, SD is currently seeking a Part-Time Night Crisis Worker to provide program, case management, and crisis intervention services during the overnight for individuals and various shelter activities.

What You'll Do:

  • Client Relations: Respond to crisis telephone calls, in person crisis counseling sessions, shelter intakes, and departures. Respond to needs of shelter clients. Care for and supervise children in shelter. Assist in administration of medications to children in placement, as assigned. Transport clients as necessary.
  • Data Management: Complete necessary forms and documentation.
  • Outreach Services: Make appropriate referrals and coordinate services with other service providers.
  • Professional Development: Complete required annual training. Maintain required certifications and proficiencies. Attend assigned meetings.
  • Shelter Activities: Complete daily cleaning tasks for the facility. Complete maintenance chores as assigned. Prepare and serve breakfast, as needed. Perform laundry tasks. Assist with training needs of new employees.
  • Staff Development: Assist with training needs of new employees.
  • Safety, Policies and Procedures: Ensure safety standards and infection control policies are followed.

Schedule: Friday: 12:00am-7:00am, Sat 12:00am-7:00am

(Every other Friday night going into Saturday morning and Saturday night going into Sunday morning)

Compensation: $20.00/hr + up to $2/hour shift differential pay

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, or Human Services field preferred.
  • Experience: Three years experience in human services preferred. References that can depict level of interest in working with individuals in crisis situations.
  • Licensure: valid drivers license preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and software utilized by the office.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Environment focused on care of Individuals in crisis situations. The employee is regularly required to bend and sit on the floor. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to physically restrain a child in ways taught by the Agency while being able to verbally communicate to the child and other staff. Some exposure to cleaning chemicals, requiring attentive and safe utilization. Overnight hours.

Must successfully complete all required background/pre-employment checks. EEO/AA.
