The Clinical Nurse Supervisor (CNS) assists in ensuring the nursing department provides consistent, attentive, and efficient care to the residents. The CNS is responsible for monitoring nursing staff, nursing activities, and resident care, as well as ensuring nursing activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local standards.
This position will be expected to provide high level leadership to set vision/direction, facilitate teamwork, coordinate with other disciplines/teams, manage employee relations, think strategically, lead and manage projects, etc. The CNS will work closely with the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing as well as other members of the interdisciplinary team. The CNS will supervise nurses: review and sign timecards, approve leave, manage personnel issues, and complete quarterly and annual reviews.
Licenses and Certifications:
A Bachelor or Associate Degree in Nursing. Must be licensed and able to work as a Register Nurse in South Dakota.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
professional nursing theory and practices;
clinical procedures;
regulatory requirements both federal and state;
computers and healthcare software.
Skill to:
supervise clinical operations and develop care plan;
develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs);
work collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team;
evaluate the performance of the department and recommend improvements;
orient new nurses and monitor their progress.
Ability to:
communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff;
assist DON and ADON during annual inspections by regulatory agencies;
complete shift work on an as needed basis;
alternate on-call weeks with the DON and ADON.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
At least 5 years of experience in nursing with preferably some supervisory experience. Good critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
