Responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of duties which include typing and word processing, spreadsheet creation and data manipulation, contacting vendors to expedite purchase orders and place orders requiring limited negotiations; process routine orders and establish and maintain files.

Essential Functions:

Receive purchase requisition by phone, e-mail, fax or personal request; peruse requisition to assure item(s) is properly specified and pertinent information if provided necessary for proper placement of order.

Select and contact vendor(s) for placement of orders requiring limited negotiations, follow-up and resolve discrepancies, including warranty claims, service, etc., which may be required to complete and close the purchase order.

Contact vendor to expedite purchase orders to ensure that delivery dates are met.

Enter and maintain files for Import/Export orders and shipments.

Enter block stock orders for sister facilities.

Responsible for drop order shipments and associated billing.

Provide backup for Purchasing Assistant during lunches and vacations as necessary.

Create planning reports, as necessary with guidance from senior planner

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

High school or equivalent, plus specialized training in related business area; computer skills required.

1-2 years within the purchasing function to become familiar with the Purchasing Department.

Additional Requirements:

Must be familiar with Microsoft Word-Processing and Spreadsheet (Excel) software

Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format

Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and managers in all departments of the Company

Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company

Must have good time management skills and work in a fast paced environment

Must adhere to all Company policies

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for the majority of an 8-hour workday

Must be able to lift 35 pounds
